What 100 Tucson AC Repair Calls Reveal About Southern Arizona's Most Common System Failures

Rite Way Heating, Cooling & Plumbing Reviewed 100 Peak-Season Service Calls to Show Tucson Homeowners Exactly What Is Breaking and Why

TUCSON, AZ, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Refrigerant leaks. Failed capacitors. Blower motors running on borrowed time. And in nearly two out of every three cases, more than one of those problems present at the same time. That is what Rite Way Heating, Cooling & Plumbing found when it reviewed 100 completed AC repair calls from its own service records, all from a single week in June 2026, covering jobs across Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita, Green Valley, Vail, and surrounding communities.

Refrigerant and leak-related issues appeared in 55 of the 100 calls reviewed, most frequently traced back to the evaporator coil. Blower motor problems were documented in 53 calls. Capacitor failure appeared in 50 calls, making it the most common reason systems would not start at all. Condensate drain issues caused complete system shutdowns in 23 calls. Contactor failure was found in 11 calls, usually alongside a capacitor issue. And 62% of all calls involved two or more documented problems at once.

"What stood out wasn't any single failure type. It was how consistently systems were dealing with two or three problems at once by the time someone called us," said Michael Auman, General Manager of Rite Way Heating, Cooling & Plumbing. "That is what years of Southern Arizona heat does without regular maintenance. We wanted homeowners to see this data so they understand what is actually happening inside their equipment before it turns into a 108-degree emergency."

The study also highlighted how rarely these failures appear without warning. Homeowners reported noticing strange sounds, inconsistent cooling, and higher utility bills in the weeks before their system stopped working. In many cases, a seasonal AC tune-up would have surfaced the problem before it became an emergency call. Rite Way has been servicing homes across Tucson and Southern Arizona since 1959, and the findings reflect firsthand service data from communities the company has served for more than 65 years.
